Sexual assault has been rampant across college campuses, regardless of the kind of school. The Brock Turner rape case has had the country appalled and for good reason. This young rapist should have faced years in prison and will now spend less than 6 months behind a the bars of a county jail. For a crime as egregious as raping an unconscious woman behind a dumpster, this is unacceptable.
A petition to recall Judge Aaron Persky has been created and everyone should sign it. Not only was the ruling wrong, but sends the message to the world that rape can sometimes be acceptable. For all of the women that have had to endure such atrocities, and especially for the ones that have not received justice, this petition should not be ignored.
